The renowned DJ Jordi Carreras will perform a set of his celebrated music at Tamarindo Patio Bar on Saturday 25th January from 11pm onwards. The local venue in Orense is celebrating its 5th anniversary and has organised a party to match the event, where the Barcelona DJ will be the main protagonist. He will be accompanied by Diego Caride on live saxophone, who will contribute to the intensity of the session.
Jordi Carreras (Barcelona, 1966) has developed an extensive and recognised professional career in the music industry. He started out as a resident DJ in various clubs in 1985, a figure he has been a staunch supporter of. He is a reference of the classic Disco & Funky and one of the precursors of dance sessions in Barcelona and of Soulful and quality Deep House in Spain.
His extensive catalogue of residencies includes Sirocco, Space, Ushuaia and Amnesia in Ibiza, and Blue Spot, iKibana, Vlvet Bar and L`Atlantida in Barcelona. Also notable are his collaborations for important international events such as the ERICSSON Mobile World Congress Private Party, the Formula 1 and Moto GP events at the Circuit de Catalunya, or the UEFA Champions League at the Nou Camp, where he has been the official DJ of this organisation since 2012.
He has also played a very important role in the radio field since 1984 when he began to appear on local radio stations in Barcelona such as Antena la veu de Martorell, Dial 107, Radio Martorell, Radio Abrera, Radio Esparreguera and Radio Olesa de Montserrat. Since then, he has appeared on some of the country’s main radio stations such as 40 Principales, Cadena Nova, Popular FM, Cadena 100, Onda Rambla, Flaix FM, Loca FM, RAC 105, Interpop, Ibiza Global Radio and Ibiza Sonica.
Academic dimension
Jordi Carreras’ interest in and knowledge of music strengthened his vocation for research and teaching. He has developed a large part of his professional career in the academic field, being one of the driving forces behind Plastic Academies, the project that has covered professional training in the DJ industry in Spain. He is a tutor of the DJ course at this institution and a developer of an important part of its academic curriculum.
