On 9 May, Casa Cocina Tamarindo hosted a wine tasting of wines from Bodegas Valdemar in the Rioja Alavesa. The event was organised by Cecilia Cantabranas, Valdemar’s sales representative, and its aim was to inform the brand’s distributors in the area about the special features of the wines produced by the winery.
Tamarindo’s head chef, Roi Cougil, designed a tasting menu to accompany the tasting, based on dishes that conveyed the restaurant’s philosophy while seeking to adapt to the characteristics of the wines. The participants were able to taste a sequence of pickled mussels, roast rib taco, creamy rice with boletus and prawns, veal cheeks, pork cheeks and clafoutis with cold raspberry soup and cream ice cream.
Cecilia Cantabranas, for her part, made a selection of wines from the wineries, explained their characteristics and commercial applications to the distributors, and answered any questions that arose.
Bodegas Valdemar was founded in Oyón (Álava) at the end of the 19th century and produces mainly Rioja wines, although it also produces wines with the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin. This is a family winemaking saga that is now in its fifth generation and enjoys great prestige for the quality of its wines and the projection of its company.
