Tamarindo Patio Bar opens the new music season with new features in its programme. Maintaining the stylistic base that has characterised the venue throughout its history, the head of programming and resident DJ, Jorge Diéguez, announces the inclusion of new styles. In this way, between 1 and 2 Fridays a month, English pop classics and Spanish classics from the 80s and 90s will be played at Tamarindo, performed by specialised local DJs who will enter into the collaborative dynamic that has worked so well so far. Tamarindo thus responds to a regular demand from its public, which has occasionally shown interest in these specific styles. “We want to introduce a certain diversification within the Tamarindo style. We’ve worked hard over the years to define our personality and it’s a good time to make room for variants with which we also feel identified and which we know our public likes”, explains Jorge Diéguez, who is always methodical with everything that sounds at the Patio Bar.
The characteristic line of Tamarindo will be continued and will be the main axis of the style, emphasising the Soulful, Deephouse and Funky sounds that have formed the personality of the Patio Bar. On this starting point, the usual team of DJs is maintained, with JDiéguez as resident DJ and DJ Albert as regular collaborator, with the occasional presence of DJ Sula and other local guest DJs.
Tamarindo as a reference space in Galicia
On this basis, Jorge Diéguez wants to consolidate the projection of Tamarindo Patio Bar as one of the reference spaces in Galicia in the programming of DJs with prestige in the Spanish disco music scene in its Deephouse, Funky and Soulful aspects. His first bet of the season is Nita Funk, a DJ who has positioned herself on the circuit with her elegant mixes of house, funky-house, nu-disco and soulful notes. Unfortunately, Nita’s set, scheduled for 13 September, had to be postponed due to the weather conditions in the Levante region, which forced the cancellation of her flight, although she now has a new date: Friday 11 October at 11pm. “Nita is a great bet for Tamarindo, she will open the season and will mark our programme”, says Jorge, who highlights the talent and experience of the Alicante-born singer.
Nita Funk thus opens a season marked by the 5th anniversary of Tamarindo, which will take place next November and which will bring about different celebrations throughout the year. Jorge Diéguez’s objective is to maintain the high level shown last year, when DJs such as Jordi Carreras, DJ Bee, Silvia Zaragoza, Juan Otazo and Javi Senz passed through the space. The aim is to have between 3 and 5 similar profiles of artists for 2019/2020, and it is not ruled out that some of the DJs who played on the Patio Bar decks last year will return. “It’s possible, the sessions were well liked, their presence gives prestige to Tamarindo and they left here with a very good taste in their mouths”, Jorge Diéguez hints, who ends by giving the keys to the new season: “It will bring novelties while consolidating our style”.
